Ethyl acetate is a widely used solvent, especially for paints, varnishes, lacquers, cleaning mixtures, and perfumes. Like last week’s MOTW, dichloromethane, it is used as a solvent for decaffeinating coffee beans. In the lab, ethyl acetate is a common solvent for column and thin-layer chromatography.
Isobutyl Acetate is a clear, colorless liquid with a pleasant, fruity odor. It is used as a solvent and in perfumes and artificial fruit-flavoring agents.
Iso propyl acetate is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C5H10O2. It is commonly used as a solvent for cellulose, plastics, oils and fats. This product is a clear, colourless liquid that has a fruity ester odor.
Normal Butyl acetate’s most common industry use is in the production of lacquers and paints (due to its low volatility) as a solvent. Additionally, it has uses in the manufacturing of artificial leather, plastics adhesives and hardened coatings and topcoats.
Normal propyl acetate is widely used in the printing industry, mainly for flexographic and screen printing inks. It is also used as a solvent in perfumes and is found as an ingredient in aerosol sprays, nail care products and cosmetics.
